Coin Descriptions
1. Upper Left: The America Figure (Progress of Civilization Pediment)
Design: Features a striking profile portrait of the allegorical personification of America, derived from the figure at the center of the historic 80-foot-long marble sculpture.
History & Significance: Located above the East Senate Entrance of the U.S. Capitol Building, this iconic centerpiece was designed by renowned American sculptor Thomas Crawford in 1854 and successfully erected in 1863. America is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap, a classic historical emblem of freedom and the pursuit of liberty dating back to antiquity.
2. Upper Right: The Liberty Bell
Design: Highlights the historic Liberty Bell, inscribed with its famous mandate to “Proclaim Liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof,” alongside the commemorative dual dates of 1776–2026.

History & Significance: Represents the tenets of belief, virtue, and liberty, spanning faith, morality, law, education, and liberty; deemed essential by the nation’s early architects.
4. Lower Right: U.S. Supreme Court West Pediment Center Figures
Design: Features the striking central triad from the western pediment of the United Sates Supreme Court building.
History & Significance: Captures the allegorical embodiment of liberty flanked by figures symbolizing order and authority, reflecting the scales of justice and the rule of law under the U.S. Constitution. Connects virtue and liberty through the rule of law, where central allegorical figures of order, authority, and the virtue of justice guard the legal boundaries of a free society.
